Despite a slowdown in March and June, Florida’s excess and surplus lines market premium volume totaled $9.7 billion in the first half of 2024, up 12% on the prior-year period, according to data issued Tuesday by the Florida Surplus Lines Service Office.
Overall policy counts in the first half rose to 733,960, up 7% over the prior-year period.
Current figures indicate a possible year-to-date slowdown, the Florida Surplus Lines Service Office said.
In June, premium volume fell 9% to $1.8 billion, while policy counts totaled 135,637, a nominal 3% increase over June 2023.
